• General information on higher education

  Higher education institutions consist of universities and high technology institutes and faculties, institutes, academies, conservatories, research and application centers within these institutions and higher vocational schools that are affiliated to a university or high technology institute or higher vocational schools that are founded by non-profit making private organizations and organizations without being affiliated to university or a high technology institute. According to their status and funding higher education institutions may be public or foundation universities.

  Higher education institutions in Türkiye evaluated as part of the Institutional External Evaluation Program conducted by the Higher Education Quality Council of Türkiye

  A fully functioning quality assurance system is in operation nationwide, in which all higher education institutions are subject to regular external quality assurance by an agency that has successfully demonstrated compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the EHEA (ESG) through registration on EQAR

• Cross-border quality assurance

  Recognising foreign agencies based on their own framework/requirements

  • Eligibility requirements for foreign agencies: International quality assurance agencies that have been recognised by the Higher Education Quality Council of Türkiye (THEQC Regulation).

  • Conditions for the agencies’ work (e.g. criteria to be used): The agency's procedures are aligned with ESG 2015 and compatible with the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education in Türkiye (NQF-HETR).

  • Recognition of reviews carried out by foreign agencies: Programs accredited by the agencies that are recognized or authorized by the THEQC are listed in the YKS Higher Education Programs and Placement Guideline (formerly named ÖSYS Higher Education Programs and Placement Guideline).
