  North Macedonia has been a Governmental Member of EQAR since March 2015.

• General information on higher education

  Higher education in the Republic of North Macedonia is offered by universities, higher professional schools, research institututes (within universities or independent of universities), religious institutions and military academies.  

• National external quality assurance requirements

  All higher education institutions are obliged to have institutional accreditation and to offer accredited study programmes

  • Institutional and programme evaluation
    At programme level the evaluation of first and second-cycle study programmes takes place every five-year, while the evaluation of third cycle study programmes (doctoral studies) is carried out every three years. Higher education institutions are going through an evaluation at least once every five years.
