Information on the agency's work
BAC is an independent organisation, established to be the national accrediting body for independent post-16 education in the UK. BAC is a not-for-profit charitable organisation and is self-financing through accreditation fees. It receives no public funding. BAC is a non-regulatory body and higher education institutions applying for accreditation approach BAC voluntarily. The award of accreditation is subject to an institution meeting standards established and periodically reviewed by BAC. The decision to award accreditation is made by an independent committee which considers reports produced by a professional inspectorate. Institutions are subject to regular monitoring, centering on interim visits and the submission of annual returns.
BAC has applied for renewal of inclusion. Its registration remains fully valid pursuant to §4.2 of the EQAR Procedures for Applications, until a decision on renewal has been made.
