into the work of research groups and activities of different reserach projects through their
supervisors and co-supervisors. Students have at their disposal also state-of-the-art
equipment to perform research as well as participate in innovative learning and teaching
16
approaches. Students are well supported also in terms of their ability to participate and
present their work at the annual research conference the institution is organizing. However,
the study programme does suffer from certain serious problems. The key ones are (1) the
problem of inadequate performance of the quality assurance system that does not allow
the institution to develop the programme in accordance with the programme selfevaluation results; (2) the problem of its implementatio, which allow demonstrates a sharp
move from originally acredited field (social sciences) to the fields of natural sciences,
mathematics and statistics, information and communication technologies and engineering.
This is clearly reflected also by the institution's promotion of the programme, which is
misleading to future students.
