Report summary
The PhD program in Conservation Biology (3rd level, 4 years, 240 ECTS) is a program that focuses on one of the most important issues facing humanity today, i.e. the habitat degradation, and biodiversity loss due to the negative impacts of human activities.
The Conservation Biology PhD program includes mandatory biological, methodological, and content courses that enable students to acquire knowledge or skills for independent work
(research or application) in the field of conservation of species and their habitats.
The program is structured in form and content according to the legislation. Emphasis is placed on students' individual research work. The curriculum is designed to meet the set objectives and enable the achievement of the expected competences (both general and subject-specific). The premises and equipment are suitable for the implementation of the
study program.
Since this is the first accreditation of the study program, the personnel composition is not yet complete and will continue to change. A group of experts recommends full-time employment of the higher number of teachers at FAMNIT.
Finally, as an expert group, we would like to point out the sloppy preparation of the application for accreditation of the study program and the very large number of inconsistencies in the application itself. The inconsistencies can be found both in the naming of courses and in the information about the scientific excellence of the course holders and doctoral students’ mentors (various statements in the application and in the appendices).
In the final response to the expert report, the applicant has corrected all the mentioned irregularities.
