Report summary
The master's programme in nursing consists of 120 KT and lasts 2 years. The first year of
the postgraduate programme consists of ten compulsory courses divided into two
semesters of 30 KT each, for a total of 60 ECTS. The programme is designed so that in the
second year the student focuses on a specific area of nursing. Depending on the design of
the programme, the student may choose one of the following four areas of study
(translations are aligned with the translations provided by the institution): (1) Integrated
Health and Social Care of the Older Adults in Advanced Nursing Practice, (2) Integrated
Treatment of Patients with Chronic Conditions in Advanced Nursing Practice, (3)
Emergencies and Fundamentals of Intensive Treatment, and (4) Family and Community
19
Care in Advanced Nursing Practice. The programme provides for 30 full-time and 30 parttime placements.
In evaluating the programme's first accreditation standard, the expert panel found a
significant discrepancy. The programme has four groups of subject-specific competencies
identified in addition to the four areas of study available to second-year students, which
students do not acquire because they choose only one area of study. At the end of their
studies, they will all have the same professional title (the field of study would be written
on the diploma certificate). In this context, the subject-specific competences are not
comprehensive, with the consequence that graduates of practically the same professional
title will possess different subject-specific competences at the end of their studies. No
discrepancies were found in the evaluation of the second, third, fourth, and fifth standards.
Some possibilities or suggestions were made to improve and increase the quality of the
study programme.
In the institution's response, the panel concludes that the non-conformities have been
addressed, and most of the opportunities for improvement have been taken into account
at this stage. Therefore, it gives a positive opinion for the accreditation of the study
program in Nursing (2nd cycle, Full-time and Part-time).
